Vispr - Privacy Policy

The short version

Vispr is built so that we can never read your journal. Your entries are end-to-end encrypted on your device before they ever leave it. We hold only unreadable ciphertext - not your words, not your voice, not your moods.

What stays on your device

The encryption key that unlocks your entries is generated on your device and stored in your device keychain (synced through your private iCloud Keychain). It is never sent to our servers. If you lose access to that keychain, we cannot recover your entries - that is the trade-off for true privacy.

What we store

Our servers store the encrypted contents of your entries, the time they were created, and - only if you turn on "Keep my recordings" - your encrypted audio. Everything is ciphertext. By default your audio is deleted immediately after it is transcribed.

How AI processing works

To transcribe your voice and generate a summary, mood, and reflection, audio and text are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) through a server-side proxy. This data is used only to produce your result and is not stored by the proxy or used to train models. Results are encrypted on your device before being saved.

Subscriptions

Purchases and your trial are handled by RevenueCat and the App Store. They receive a random app-specific identifier and your purchase status so we can unlock premium features. Neither receives your journal content.

Diagnostics & reliability

To find and fix crashes and slow screens, we use Sentry, an error- and performance-monitoring service. It receives crash reports, performance timings, and a session recording - but the recording is captured with all text, images, and graphics fully masked, so your journal content is never visible in it. We do not send your name, email, IP address, or any entry content to Sentry. This is used only to keep the app stable and fast - never to profile you and never for advertising.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising or behavioral-tracking SDKs, and we do not read, mine, or profile your entries - we cannot, because they are encrypted. The only third parties that receive any data are the ones named above: our AI provider (to process a recording), the App Store and RevenueCat (for purchases), and Sentry (for crash and reliability diagnostics).

Deleting your data

You can export or permanently delete all your data at any time from Settings → Privacy & data, and you can delete your entire account from Settings → Account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
